Terrence T. Shey knows what it means to go without. After losing his father at a young age, he grew up in severe poverty in Cameroon — navigating a childhood defined by scarcity, uncertainty, and the kind of struggle that shapes a person for life.
But in 2009, something shifted. Terrence's acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior didn't erase the hardship — it reframed it. The pain he carried became fuel. The struggles he survived became a roadmap for the work he was called to do.
Every person — especially the most vulnerable — deserves to feel loved, valued, and empowered to thrive.
From Hardship to Hope
Terrence T. Shey knows what it means to go without. After losing his father at a young age, he grew up in severe poverty in Cameroon — navigating a childhood defined by scarcity, uncertainty, and the kind of struggle that shapes a person for life.
But in 2009, something shifted. Terrence’s acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior didn’t erase the hardship — it reframed it. The pain he carried became fuel. The struggles he survived became a roadmap for the work he was called to do.
Faith in God Charity Missions was born from that conviction. What began as one man’s desire to give back to the widows, orphans, and underserved communities he grew up alongside has grown into a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving thousands across Cameroon and the United States.
Today, FIGCM operates through four pillars — Health & Nutrition, Educational Assistance, Livelihood Enrichment, and Evangelism — each rooted in the belief that transformation happens when physical needs and spiritual hope work together.
From monthly food distributions reaching vulnerable households, to vocational training programs graduating orphan apprentices into self-sufficiency, to school sponsorships keeping displaced children in classrooms — every program traces back to the same origin: a young man who knew what it felt like to have nothing, and resolved that others would not face that alone.
